Solubility information: | Forskolin
is soluble in DMSO, Methanol, Ethanol, Dichloromethane,
Forskolin may be
dissolved in 2% ethanol in water, by dissolving it first in Ethanol and
subsequently diluting this solution with water. |
| Specifications | |
| Appearance: | Off-white crystalline solid. |
| Purity: | At least 97% by TLC, HPLC |
| λmax: | 210, 305 |
| Melting point: | 228°C-230°C |
| Solubility: | Clear colorless solution
at 10mg/ ml EtOAc |
| Storage: |
Room temperature or below. Light protection is recommended by other sources. |
| Applications: | Forskolin is a vasodilator, hypotensive agent. Forskolin activates Adenylate Cyclase, thus increasing the cyclic AMP intra-cellular concentration.
Forskolin is commonly used to raise levels of cyclic AMP (cAMP) in the study and research of cell physiology.
Forskolin has been mentioned as a possible weight loss
aid, and as a mean to treat Glaucoma, as it may reduce the intraocular
pressure. See also United States Patent Application 20100168014 |
